WNC Modern Classic Kitchen
Oh, the starting point on this room! Picture brown tile, laminate tops that disintegrated when touched, walls and doors that cut this room off from living, outdated appliances and cabinets that didn’t function well.
All was gutted. With a clean slate, the walls were opened up and the kitchen was completely rearranged. Space to recess the refrigerator was captured from poor functioning the laundry room. This opened up traffic flow.
A window was added to increase the amount of natural light. 42” tall shaker cabinets were installed to maximize storage. The island increased in size to allow for food prep and entertaining. Black honed granite sits at the perimeter. The island features rain forest green marble. It was chosen because of the white flecks that resemble snow on branches.
Wood flooring was continued throughout the kitchen and mudroom to maintain a seamless look.
Tip: Selecting a honed surface vs a polished surface on stone can help defer reflections. This is important with those who have poor eyesight.
