Vulnerable and Disadvantage Populations Research Group

The Vulnerable and Disadvantaged Populations Research Group, led by Associate Professor Lisa Wood and Dr Karen Martin, conducts diverse research projects and consultancy work, with a focus on improving health outcomes among disadvantaged and under-served populations.

The focus of the group is on collaborating with key industry stakeholders to conduct research and consultancy work aimed at improving health outcomes for some of society’s most vulnerable populations. Our research group has particular interest int he social determinants of health and have current research projects aimed at improving outcomes for people experiencing homelessness, domestic violence and learning from successful community-led health programs for Aboriginal people. Past projects have involved evaluating support services for people experiencing homelessness and the impact that these services have on health outcomes and hospital service use.
